Exploring Nymans, National Trust’s Jewel in West Sussex

Part 1: The House. This short film explores the astonishing house at Nymans, West Sussex.

Formerly the home of three generations of the Messel family, Nymans was built in the 19th Century, but was partly destroyed by a fire in 1932. Twenty years later the estate was donated to the National Trust. The house is surrounded by fine gardens and has become one of the Trust’s most visited properties. Nymans also boasts its own nursery and has successfully propagated numerous new hybrids, which are identified with the term nymanensis.
